I have been looking forward to writing this blog for some time now. The essence, the foundation, the strength of Nurturing Newborns lies within the people we work with and the people we work to support. I have a lot to say about these people, so get your reading glasses on and buckle up.
First, we have a Board of Directors that have hearts for our community and hearts for children. They bring many years of experience working with nonprofits. Their experience, knowledge and giving spirits are providing Nurturing Newborns with a very strong foundation as a nonprofit organization. As Executive Director, I am grateful for their gift of time and l am honored to work with these people.
Nurturing Newborns has spent 15 years developing relationships with professional providers to children in our community. Our referral sources are social workers, case managers and therapists who are dedicated to helping families with an infant or toddler that has delays or disabilities. They go the extra mile to seek specialized support such as respite care for their clients. Respite care is still a fairly new support for the 0-3 population and Nurturing Newborns truly respects and appreciates these thoughtful providers that seek a wide range of support for their clients.
The Executive Team at Nurturing Newborns keeps our wonderful nonprofit moving forward in a positive and inspiring direction. Our Business Manager and our two Respite Managers are some of the most insightful, caring individuals I have ever had the pleasure of working with. My respect and undying gratitude goes out to these amazing women.
Next, we must recognize our Respite Providers. These women are the heart and soul of our organization and the reason for our growth in the community. 18 Respite Providers are currently caring for 39 families with a child or children with delays, disabilities, serious illnesses or issues from prematurity. They are teachers, caregivers, nurses, and case workers who have chosen to work part-time for Nurturing Newborns. They face challenging scenarios in every home and provide loving care and encouragement to families in crisis.
Lastly, Nurturing Newborns is grateful to families that are in the middle of a crisis and allow us to come into their home, see their sadness, fear and uncertainty, and trust us to care for their precious children. Our model of care works to empower parents in their role while providing specialized care of their fragile child. Parents, we see you, we acknowledge you and we thank you for allowing us into your home during a difficult time.
Whew! It takes a village for Nurturing Newborns to care for children with disabilities in our community. If you are reading this blog and want to be part of this village, feel free to make a tax deductible donation that will help us provide respite care to families with children with disabilities. Please see the details below.
